The eligible Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is a graduate of an accredited educational program, who has successfully passed one of two approved credentialing examinations (either the HPTC or Quebec's Épreuve Synthèse). For Registered Respiratory Therapists practicing in Manitoba it is mandatory to renew their license annually with the Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists.

The respiratory therapist's practice is governed by guidelines prescribed through Standards of Practice, ethical conduct codes, institutional policies and provincial statute.

To practice as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in Manitoba, you are required to be licensed by the MARRT. Respiratory Therapists residing outside of Manitoba who provide virtual and telehealth respiratory therapy services to those in Manitoba are required to be licensed by the MARRT and meet all licensure requirements.
